"Sun, 24, a Chinese-American pianist who
studied in New York, blazed through Bartok’s rarely heard Etudes
(Op.18), each a curious thicket of folk rhythms and finger–twisting
industrials sounds - at once ancient and modern. Playing a mediocre
Yamaha piano, he nevertheless delivered a fireworks for Scriabin’s
Sonata No.3 and , as an encore, “Stars and Stripes Forever".
