The Chopin Society of Atlanta entertained its supporters to fine wine, good food and of course a little Chopin at its fundraiser soiree at the home of the society's president, Dorota Lato on Morton Road in Johns Creek.

The evening was also a chance to thank some the Chopin's Society's biggest supporters – BellSouth Vice President of Supply Chain Operations Oscar Primelles who flew in from Miami was the guest of honor for the evening.
Other honored guests included Consul General of France the Hon. Phillippe Ardanaz and Culture Counsellor of the Polish Embassy in Washington D.C. Mariusz Brymora.
In addition to sponsoring concerts throughout the year at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, the Chopin Society also promotes classical music, especially Chopin, through its work with young musicians. This year the society will sponsor it first piano competition as well, said Lato.
"For the first time, we will have young people performing Chopin. We are very excited about that," Lato said. "We try to educate and create awareness about Chopin."
In addition to sponsoring topflight concert artists to perform at its concerts, the Chopin Society also arranges free tickets for music students. In exchange, the students are expected to write an essay about the music they just heard. In that way the students learn to listen with more attention and self-examination, Lato said.
